AMSTERDAM : 10 THINGS TO DO

10 THINGS TO DO IN AMSTERDAM

1. Get lost by bike to visit the city. Amsterdam is the city of bikes, so to fully experience your Amsterdam adventure, ride a bike like a local. We've said that Amsterdam is the Venice of the North, so you can enjoy a nice ride crossing the canals via one of the 1753 bridges.

2. Go to the flower market. This flower market is on the water. One of the icons of Amsterdam is the tulip; in this market, you can buy seeds, bulbs, and flowers to bring home. You can also find many souvenirs there.

3. Go to a coffee shop. In Amsterdam, it is legal to smoke marijuana in a coffee shop, so go at least once to enjoy a relaxed, unique, and legal moment. They are mostly on the northwest side of Amsterdam, not too far from the station. We went to Amnesia, small and cosy and to Coffeeshop Amsterdam, modern and trendy.

4. Walk the night in the red-light district area. This popular area at night is known for its famous windows with girls inside. It's a unique place to see, but we couldn't remain indifferent to this practice. We had a beer a cosy pub called Louis Bar, it's apparently the smallest pub of Amsterdam.

5. Visit a museum. Amsterdam is full of museums, but because we were traveling on a budget, we had to make a choice. We really wanted to visit the Anne Frank Museum, but you have to book well in advance online, so be organized, unlike us. We then chose to see an art museum where the entrance cost €14 online, so a little advice: book online; most of the time, it's cheaper. And we did the Sex Museum, only €5; this museum is light and funny.

6. Do the Heineken Experience. Really well done, during the Heineken Experience, you will discover the history of Heineken, how they make the beer, the brand's involvement in the world, and you will get two beers and half of a free Heineken. We really loved it!

7. Book a boat tour. It's a nice way to discover the city from the canals. You can find companies everywhere that offer boat tours. We personally booked it with the Heineken tour. In fact, when you go to the Heineken Experience website, you can find a tour called "Rock the City" that costs €32 and includes the Heineken Experience, the boat tour, and entrance to the A'DAM Tower.

8. Go to the top of the A'DAM Tower to appreciate an amazing view of the city. If you like adrenaline, I advise you to go on the A'DAM Tower swing.

9. Walk in Vondelpark. A huge park in the city with beautiful landscapes. By walking or biking, you will enjoy this moment of peacefulness.

10. Try Amsterdam sweets. In Amsterdam, you can take magic truffles. We went to the Magic Mushroom Gallery; in the shop, they will advise you really well. But our advice is that if you want to take them, you need a full day for this. Because we were in Amsterdam for two days, it was too tight to fully enjoy the magic truffles, and we had to stop the effects before continuing to visit the city.
