ORTA LAKE : ONE DAY
ONE DAY IN ORTA LAKE
We were in Milan for a few days and decided to drive north of Italy to Lake Orta and its town, Orta San Giulio. It's one of the most beautiful little towns we've ever been to, with charming old architecture, breathtaking landscapes of the lake, and not many tourists!
11:00 We walked through the little streets of the town to reach the lake. We found an amazing spot on a pontoon next to the town hall. The water came up quite high, so we had to remove our shoes to access the pontoon. It was a peaceful moment together with an amazing view.
12:00 We continued walking through the little garden of the town hall, which also offered an amazing view. Then, we continued getting lost in the cute and charming little streets of Orta.
13:00 We walked to the main square of the town, Piazza Motta. We passed little streets with shops selling typical food; we wanted to buy so many things! Then, we stopped for lunch at a little restaurant in Piazza Motta and enjoyed a fresh drink and a charcuterie and cheese platter.
14:30 We took the boat to travel to the Island of San Giulio. It cost only a few euros. It was a nice way to also discover the lake and appreciate different landscapes.
15:30 Back in Orta town, we decided to enjoy an ice cream, sitting on a bench facing this beautiful lake, before going back home.
