BRIGHTON : ONE DAY
ONE DAY IN BRIGHTON
Brighton is one of the closest seaside cities to London. Trains run all day and every day from London to Brighton. It's really easy and cheap to go there for the day – a good destination to escape the noisy capital for a day. It was our first trip together.
9:30 Departure from London Bridge. It takes between 1 hour and 1 hour 30 minutes to get to Brighton; it's really quick. Not quick enough for Dani, who slept the whole way.
10:45 We arrived in Brighton, so excited to see the sea. We were both missing the sea breeze. From the station to the sea, the way is simple: just go straight, and it will take you about 15 minutes by walk. It's a stone beach, not a sand beach. We decided to sit and lie down on the beach, looking at the sea. Morgane dipped her feet in the cold water – such a relaxing moment!
12:00 We started to get hungry, so we walked to the Regency Restaurant, which was recommended to us. The restaurant is just in front of the British Airways i360, a 162 m observation tower on the Brighton seafront. It costs around £15 to go up there. We sat down on the terrace of the Regency Restaurant to enjoy the sea view and the sun. Then, we ordered lots of seafood. It's a really good value restaurant with fresh seafood. We recommend you go.
13:30 Then, we walked towards the pier, which was 15 minutes away. On the way, you have terrace restaurants and cute seaside shops along the beach – a really nice atmosphere!
14:00 Brighton Pier is a place you need to visit. The pier is 525 m long. At the beginning of the pier, you will find the Palace of Fun, a big arcade room with games and action-packed machines. In the middle, you will find restaurants and cafés. And at the end of the pier, you have fairground rides, including thrill rides, children's rides, and roller coasters.
15:30 Then, we walked 10 minutes to see the Royal Pavilion. The Royal Pavilion is an exotic palace in the center of Brighton with a colorful history. Built as a seaside pleasure palace for King George IV, this historic house mixes Regency grandeur with the visual style of India – really beautiful and surprising architecture!
16:30 To end the day, we decided to go back to the beach to enjoy a beer. We chose to go to the Fortune of War, a nice pub on the seafront.
18:00 Time to go back to the train station, direction London. It was a really nice and chill day. We needed this sea break!
