RINCON DEL MAR & SAN BERNARDO : 4 DAYS ITINERARY
4 DAYS IN RINCON DEL MAR & SAN BERNARDO
Day 1: Cartagena to Rincón del Mar to Isla Palma
We took a taxi to go to the bus terminal in Cartagena, heading towards San Onofre. Usually, there is a bus every hour. It was about a 2-hour bus ride. The bus stop in San Onofre is a bit in the middle of nowhere, but you will find lots of mototaxis and taxis waiting for you. Take one towards Rincón del Mar. Rincón del Mar is a little seaside town, really chill and relaxed. Not many hotels and tourists, it’s perfect to disconnect.
We had lunch at one of the beach restaurants – fresh fish, cheap beer, we didn’t need more! After lunch, we took a boat to Isla Palma. You need to ask around to find a boat. It usually costs 50,000 COP per person. Isla Palma is one of the cheapest islands in the Archipelago de San Bernardo. We would spend 2 nights there. We spent the first night in a tent and the second in a double room with a sea view.
The hotel is called Mistica, we loved the natural vibe of this place, it's definitely one of our favourite place in Colombia.
We enjoyed the beach in the afternoon, played volleyball with the other guests, discovered many animals (monkeys, piggies, parrots, etc.), and watched the incredible sunset.
Day 2: Isla Palma, Isla Tintipán, Santa Cruz del Islote & Isla Múcura
Today, we would discover the other islands of the Archipelago de San Bernardo. It’s a tour organized by the hotel, costing 50,000 COP per person.
We first discovered Tintipán Island from the boat. Then, Santa Cruz del Islote, the most densely populated island in the world. You need to pay 10,000 COP to visit this island. It was interesting. And we finished with Múcura, where we had lunch, walked around to discover the island, and enjoyed the turquoise water.
Around 3-4 pm, we came back to our island. Another beautiful sunset was waiting for us!
Day 3: Isla Palma to Rincón del Mar
We woke up in this paradise; it’s just magical. On the island, there are a lot of animals. You can see many around the hotel, but there is also a natural reserve on the island. It’s there to protect biodiversity. You can visit it for 15,000 COP, and it was super interesting.
At midday, we went back to Rincón. We had lunch and enjoyed the beach. We slept at Rincon del Mar and we had dinner there.
Day 4: Rincón del Mar to Cartagena
After a relaxing morning at the beach and a super good and cheap lunch, it was time to go. We booked our taxi the day before to go back to San Onofre and take the bus towards Cartagena. Two hours later, we were back in Cartagena.
